Turn of the century Kinetoscope.

This is the template for a small card model. I use this, doubled in size to show my photography animations. For example, a small sequence of an apple being eaten. This little thing works well and can demonstrate movement very well. Feel free to use the templates. Please remember that although this is a century old the idea is still copyright and therefore the templates must not be sold.

Before Muybridge's Zoopraxiscope, movement could be watched using a Kinetoscope. I was lucky enough to find original plans and cartoon drawings for a turn of the century children's toy kinetoscope. Using this I was able to demonstrate the movement of Muybridge's horses and produce my own photographic study.

Simple drawings were used to teach children of the turn of the century movement and probably was responsible for sending many into the early world of animation and film.  Black & white drawings placed into a circle was all that was needed to produce a movie show.

I used black card and made the model larger than shown to accommodate 16 photographs. Instructions for fitting the circles are on the tabs.

Two circles are needed so that the whole inside remains black and the tabs do not show.   The construction is simple and it works like a dream.
